Surrounded by water on three sides and nestled alongside the Coast Mountain Range, Vancouver is the largest city in the province of British Columbia with over half a million residents and one of the mildest climates in Canada.
Vancouver prides itself as being one of the most livable cities in the world. Not only is it a physically beautiful place to live, but the city also provides a wide range of services and
opportunities to its residents. Many of the day-to-day services are provided by the City of Vancouver, such as garbage collection, street cleaning and traffic lights, while others are the jurisdiction of senior levels of government or other organizations. Vancouver has received several awards for its various services and programs, including a United Nations award for Innovation in Public Service.
Warmed by Pacific Ocean currents and protected by a range of mountains, Vancouver's weather is mild year-round. From high 70's Fahrenheit (low 20's Celsius) in summer to a mild mid 40's Fahrenheit (0º to 5º Celsius) in winter, the climate is always hospitable. Our winters are wet, but it rarely snows, except on our local ski hills.
