Jennifer Kennedy, Kennedy Real Estate Team

Jennifer was born and raised in Edmonton into an entrepreneurial family. Her grandparents were European immigrants (Greek, Hungarian and German) who always valued hard work and hanging their own ‘shingle’. Investing in real estate was always something that was encouraged. “In my teen years for fun I used to guess the prices of homes on the real estate ads on the back of the West End Examiner”. Jennifer learned the value of real estate from watching her father invest early on into properties with excellent locations and future returns. “One thing I learned early on was the art of negotiating. Those who know how to communicate and understand the art of the deal – get those deals – even the seemingly hardest of deals done.”   Jennifer’s road to real estate took her through university, with an Arts Degree followed up with a Diploma in Business Administration/Finance. Jennifer worked in the area of audit for a large utility company before settling into a similar role and a few large banks. In 2002 Jennifer entered real estate with a large box brand and made an impression early on. Her business grew to the point of opening her own Brokerage – Kennedy Real Estate for 10years. In 2020 Jennifer and her husband Sheldon sold their business in order to be able to spend more time with their own sons – of which 3 out of 4 are also in real estate.  Which brings us to Fair Realty. Jennifer and Sheldon have a son Jackson licensed in Calgary (and Edmonton) and another son Jeff (and fiancé Bryanne) licenced in Nelson, B.C. “We are so SO excited to work with our sons under one banner. Fair Realty has done such a great job as one of the largest independent brokerages in B.C. and we are thrilled to see them expand into Alberta. There is so much real estate transacting between our provinces it only made sense to work under a banner that will bring even more opportunities for our Alberta sellers. I mean wait till those B.C. buyers/investors see how much value Alberta real estate has to offer their ROI, it will most certainly be a win win situation!!” With over 20 years experience working in up and down markets one thing Jennifer has learned about marketing homes is that you can’t be all things to all buyers, but you can be the right home to the right buyer. “This brings a whole new meaning to target marketing. Just as buyers generally know what they are looking for – so too should sellers know who they are going to be selling to. This has been a very very valuable lesson learned. And then there is the art of communicating this effectively to seller clients in order that we are on the same page – now that is an art!” In terms of specialty, Jennifer would say there is no home too big or too small or too difficult for her to sell. “I’ve been at this game for a while. I’ve learned to really listen to my buyers and hear their needs and return them opportunities in some cases they may not have otherwise discovered. For my seller clients they have taught me that they want to hear the good the bad and the ugly in order to get their home in the best position for a sale. In other words -  always always and did I say always? communicate to clients what they need to know and not what they want to hear.” Jennifer believes in top quality marketing points for all homes no matter the price point. “People like nice things, they like to buy nice things – and to that extent the marketing of a home should reflect that same mantra. Whether it be high quality professional real estate photography, custom floor plans, staging, print and on line design work – it all should be high quality. And the cherry on top is bringing all these marketing pieces together in order to source the right buyer for your property.” Bringing buyers and sellers together in an authentic way has always been the hallmark of Jennifer’s 20 plus years working in the real estate industry in Edmonton and area. “I always look forward for the opportunity to connect the real estate dots for my clients. And no dots are the same. And I like it that way!” For all your real estate needs – don’t forget to #CallTheKennedys!
