Property Managers must be licensed through the BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) under the Real Estate Services Act (RESA). Property management in BC involves overseeing residential, commercial, or industrial real estate on behalf of property owners. This can include tasks like rent collection, maintenance, tenant screening, and ensuring compliance with provincial laws. 

Rent Collection & Financial Management

  • Collect rent and deposits
  • Provide financial reporting to owners
  • Handle operating budget

Tenant Relations

  • Advertise and show properties
  • Screen and select tenants
  • Manage lease agreements
  • Handle tenant disputes or complaints

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Schedule and supervise maintenance
  • Ensure the property is safe and up to code
  • Respond to emergency issues

Legal Compliance

  • Understand and comply with the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA)
  • Issue proper notices for rent increases, entry, eviction, etc.
  • Handle dispute resolution through the Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB)
